Philip A. Messina, Chairman, President and CEO
Mr. Messina, co-founded Vista Biomedical™ in 2023. During his 25+ years of executive experience in early-stage MedTech and life sciences businesses, Mr. Messina acquired broad experience in regulatory Matters, licensing, royalty and distribution agreements, M&A and commercialization of new technologies. Previously from 2010 to 2019, Mr. Messina was a Co-founder, Chair, CEO, COO and VP of St. Teresa Medical. From 2008 – 2010 he was Pres/COO of Martell Biosystems. From 2003 -- 2008 Mr. Messina was COO of Gel-Del Technologies, where he negotiated a 15 million license agreement. From 1996 to 2003 he was President/COO of UroMetrics. Previously he also held positions as CEO of Life Signs Corp., Pres/CEO of Pulse Trend and sold the company providing a 4.5x return to investors. He has held various sales positions with other healthcare companies. Mr. Messina earned a B.S. from Northeastern Illinois University. He is the co-inventor of over 12 patents in medical technology.
Brian J. Jackson, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Jackson, co-founded Vista Biomedical™ in 2023. Mr. Jackson has a strong background in early-stage medical technology finance. He has helped raise over $75 million of growth capital in a variety of transactions including public offerings, private placements, venture placements, strategic partnerships, limited partnerships and traditional bank financings. Mr. Jackson is owner and President of Bacchus Investors, LLC, an executive financial consulting firm working with early-stage medical technology companies. From 2010 to 2019, he was a co-founder, Board member and CFO of St. Teresa Medical. Mr. Jackson co-founded PepTx, a bio-pharmaceutical firm and served as Chairman, President and CEO from 1999 to 2004, and 2004 to 2016 as Vice President, CFO and Director on a part-time basis. From 1988 through 1994, Mr. Jackson was the CFO and Controller for Everest Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of medical devices. Mr. Jackson holds a B.S.B. from the University of Minnesota. Mr. Jackson is the co-inventor on three U.S. patents in hemostasis technology and one U.S. patent in cardiovascular technology.
Sandy Liu, MD, Co-Founder – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Liu is a Co-Founder of Vista Biomedical™. She graduated from Rush Medical College and completed her pediatric residency training and chief residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Liu is a board-certified pediatrician and is completing a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Minnesota. She also holds a B.S. in bioengineering with a concentration in cellular engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Liu has 10 years research experience and has direct experience in the medical device industry prior to medical school. She was an Innovations Fellow at the University of Minnesota, Earl E. Bakken Medical Devices Center.
Joe Weber, PhD, Founder-Senior Vice-President & Inventor
Dr. Weber is the inventor of the technology and the Founder of Vista Biomedical™. Dr. Weber has a background in health insurance and physical therapy, including 10 years as Clinical Director and 6 years of clinical product innovation. Dr. Weber received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the U of St. Thomas (MN). He also completed a post-doctorate fellowship at the U of MN’s Earl E. Bakken Medical Device Center. Dr. Weber is the chief inventor on the Company’s patent application.
Yash Gumasana, Chief Technology Officer
Yash is a business-minded developer and creative software engineer, with years of software engineering background and development. Yash brings a wealth of engineering experience in developing and scaling modern web and mobile applications. His core expertise includes React, Node.js, and AWS, with a strong focus on building robust, high-performance solutions. Yash holds a degree in Computer Engineering from Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology. His previous work includes significant project builds at both Braincuber and Semicolon Solution.
